DI Lines for NDC Bookings in Travelport+

Important: Some features are based on carrier support. Please refer to known gaps and FAQs for a list of carrier-specific support articles.

Only one NDC booking per booking file is supported at this time.

NDC bookings create Document Instruction (DI) lines in the booking file. These DI lines contain information about the booking, such as price, flight information, confirmation, ticketing time limits, fees, and form of payment. DI lines display in sequential order with the oldest entries at the top and the most recent entries at the bottom of the list.

Note: As of November 3, 2023, Travelport+ agencies can request a configuration change so that NDC orders can include a filed fare with ticket number, add ticket listing with NDC ticket numbers, and update NDC tickets in the agency's TINS. This information is in addition to DI line information. For more information, refer to Filed fares for NDC orders.

An NDC identifier is in the DI remarks to differentiate NDC booking files from LCC or GDS booking files.

DI line information:

Line 1 provides the airline reference (REF), airline code (XX), vendor locator (/5JF123), currency code (AUD) and the NDC booking indicator (/NDC).
Line 2 provides the NDC Order ID information. NDC deals with Offers (shop/price) and Orders (bookings), so Order ID is recognized by NDC carriers more than booking reference/vendor locator (provided in Line 1). For line 2, OID identifies the order ID information and is followed by the two-character vendor code (XX). It is then followed by /XX (the two-character vendor code again) and the Order ID value (08148445C94).
Lines 3, 5, and 7 provide the base fare, total tax, and total fare for each passenger.
Format: PxxPTC/<FareBaseAmt>/<TaxAmt>/<TotalAmt>
Lines 4, 6, and 8 provide a breakdown of the various tax codes and associated amounts for each passenger.
Format: PxxPTC/<Tax code + tax amount>/<Tax code + tax amount>…
Lines 9-11 provide the fare type for each passenger.
Lines 12 and 13 provide the flight information for each segment.
Line 14 provides the total for all passengers.
Lines 15 and 16 provide the fare basis code per passenger type.
Line 17 provides the confirmation date and time.
Line 18 indicates the ticketing time limit. If you do not ticket the booking before this time, the airline will cancel your booking and add involuntary cancel remarks.

When the NDC reservation is canceled after a ticket has been issued but within the VOID period, a DI line is created after the ticketing information. The example below shows the DI line created once the Instant Ticket itinerary example above is canceled within the void period.

When the NDC reservation, which has not been ticketed, is modified, the new itinerary and price will be added as new DI lines. This itinerary is for two adults. XX is the airline code.

Modify after ticketing - refund

When the ticketed NDC reservation is modified, the new itinerary information is added in the DI lines. If the exchange resulted in a refund, the refund amount is specified.

This example contains a follow-on itinerary modification after the Add Collect example above. Lines 31-44 were added to reflect the new fares and taxes, flights, and ticket numbers.

Note: If carriers send EMDs for refund, residual value, change fee, or charges, then EMDs lines for each passenger are added (lines 42-43) below. The DI line includes the EMD number, reason for issuance (e.g., residual value, refund, change fee, rebooking fee), currency code, and amount.

Involuntary cancel remarks

An involuntary cancel remark is added when the airline cancels a booking due to a missed ticket time limit. One DI line contains the cancellation date and time. Original indicates the original segment information and S## indicates the segment number.

Order Change Notifications (SQ only)

For Singapore Airlines NDC bookings only, the following Order Change Notifications (OCNs) are placed on specific queues and also generate DI line messages. No agent action is required, but agents may want to monitor these queues to stay informed about changes to a traveler's booking file.

Bookings that had changes to their booked services, such as ancillaries or seats, will be placed in Queue 25. Additionally, a new DI line is added to the booking file with the message ITINERARY MODIFIED CHANGES TO ANCILLARY SERVICES.
Bookings that have been modified by voluntary changes to flights done by the airline will be placed in Queue 11. There is no expectation from the agency to do anything with this event. Additionally, a new DI line is added to the booking file with the message ITINERARY MODIFIED BY AIRLINE VOLUNTARY CHNG.
Bookings where the passenger has caused a no show will be placed in Queue 23. If there is only one segment in the booking, it will remain as a no show. When the OCN was caused by a passenger no show, if there is only one segment in the booking, it will remain as a no show. If there two or more segments, all the segments after no show will be removed from the booking. In either of these states, the booking can only be refunded with penalties in NDC. A reshop has to be handled offline directly with the airline. Additionally, a new DI line is added to the booking file with the message CUSTOMER NO-SHOW.
